The Vancouver International Airport is Canada's second busiest
airport with approximately 17 million traveller visits per year.
Fleet Superintendent
Kelley Crozier was engaged as the Fleet Superintendent and was
charged with the post privatization task of modernizing the fleet
operations.
Some of the organizational improvements were:
- Improving shop staff efficiencies by a factor of 40%.
- Improving supply line efficiencies (procurement to pay).
- Organizing Fleet Maintenance automatic workflow with a view
to improve customer service levels.
- The selection and implementation of a computerized
maintenance management system.
- Securing maintenance department assets.

Financial Initiatives Included:
- Authoring 5, 10 and 15 year capital asset renewal and
financial plans.
- Revising annual operating and capital asset budget processes
to ensure sustainability and value.
Projects Managed:
- Integration of an onsite fuel station into the daily
business of the Airport Authority.
- Software set-up and interface of fuel station data with the
Fleet Department computerized maintenance management system.
Results
The cumulative effect of these improvements was to achieve the
lowest annual operating costs for the department in three decades.
The price level was maintained for five years in spite of constantly
increasing passenger numbers.
Other Airport Projects
Procurement to Pay Team Member
- Participated in the "Procurement to Pay" business process
reengineering project which had substantial impact in cost
reduction and materials availability for the entire airport
operation.
Maximo Integration Leader
- Lead the integration of the enterprise computerized
maintenance management software
Maximo for the airport proper. This software managed the
maintenance all of the assets of the airport including
facilities, runways, lighting equipment and mobile assets.
Technical Data Centre
- Assisted the YVR technical data center with process
improvements and customer functionalities.
- Created databases and portals which allowed Engineering and
other selected departments to access data directly from the
Technical Data center.
YVRAS
- Contracted out to Vancouver Airport Services to secure
federal grants for snow removal equipment at the Cranbrook and
Fort St. John airports. Federal grants received in excess of $6
million for these two projects.
