The District of Squamish

Phase I

The District of Squamish is a fast growing community of 20,000 situated on the breathtaking Sea to Sky Highway. Presented by it's residents as the "Outdoor Recreation Capital of Canada" it has a strong focus on the quality of life and the services it provides.

The District tendered an RFP to review the fleet and equipment long term planning. KelRoy Solutions submitted the winning bid and performed the review. The scope of work included:

  1. A review of the information and systems used to maintain and purchase Fleet equipment.
  2.  Recommendations regarding the best practices with regard to vehicle replacement options and schedules.
  3. Recommendations for improvement to the District's Fleet maintenance program.
  4. Recommendations for selection and implementation of a computerized maintenance management system.
  5. Recommendations for carbon footprint reduction and fuel management.

The study was completed on time and on budget and accepted by senior management and council. KelRoy Solutions is guiding the implementation of the recommendations in the report.

Phase II

KelRoy Solutions is currently working with The District of Squamish to:

  1. Enhance the District purchasing policy to direct focus to a "Best Value" policy.
  2. Provide tools to facilitate the success of a "Best Value" policy.
  3. Reduce asset lifecycle costs with changes to the purchasing process.
  4. Implement the procedures required to identify, contract and manage preferred vendors.
  5. Match a current equipment acquisition process to the commitments made in the official community plan.
