The City of Coquitlam

The City of Coquitlam is a fast growing community of 125,000 people nestled between the scenic coastal mountains and the Pitt and Fraser rivers. Like many progressive municipalities, the City reviews its policies and procedures to ensure "Best Practices" through continuous improvement.

The City of Coquitlam engaged KelRoy Solutions to conduct a review of the Fleet Services Department. The scope of the review included:

  1. Examination of cost equipment utilization, cost recovery and replacement practices.
  2. Review of the Fleet financial model.
  3. Review of the organizational structure of the Engineering department (Fleet Services is a section of Engineering)
  4.  Analysis of budget processes and work unit efficiencies.
  5. Evaluation of fuel, parts and maintenance management systems.
  6. Interactions with user and support departments.
  7. Comparison of the City's Fleet operations with comparable fleets.
  8. Researching opportunities to integrate leading edge technology in to a Fleet strategic plan.

The report was well received by City management. Many cost saving measures, compliance and service level improvements were identified. The recommendations are currently being integrated throughout the City's operations with guidance form KelRoy Solutions.
